Most social products begin by asking how many people they can put in front of you. Drafty begins with the opposite question: who do you actually want to be able to reach?
That is where Drafties come in.
A Drafty is a chosen connection
You can invite someone to become a Drafty. They can accept or decline. Someone can also invite you, and the relationship only exists after you accept it.
Once you are Drafties, you can Buzz each other and start live Drafts. There is no random-discovery system that lets strangers browse into your conversations.
The social graph is deliberately small
Drafty is not trying to turn everyone into an audience. There are no follower counts to grow and no feed that needs feeding. The useful unit is a relationship between two people who chose each other.
That makes the invitation more important than it may look. It is not just account administration. It defines who belongs in your Drafty world.
Email is the transport, not the philosophy
The current app uses an email address to send a Drafty invitation. The product idea is not “email contacts.” The product idea is deliberate access: you choose the person, they choose whether to accept, and only then can you Buzz each other.
People, not ghosts
The Drafty ghost belongs to the app itself. Drafties are real people. The point is not anonymity or disappearing identities. The point is having a live conversation with someone you know, then letting the conversation end when it is over.
